OpenAI launched a new interface for ChatGPT called “Canvas,” designed specifically for writing and coding projects. This feature adds a workspace next to the chat window, allowing users to generate and edit content directly. Here’s a quick breakdown:

• Canvas workspace rollout: Available in beta for ChatGPT Plus and Teams users, Canvas allows users to generate writing or code and edit specific sections with ease. Enterprise and Edu users will get access next week.

• Editable workspaces trend: OpenAI joins competitors like Anthropic and Cursor in offering flexible, editable workspaces, where users can adjust AI outputs without starting from scratch.

• Reasoning AI development: Multiple teams at Google have been working on AI reasoning software, aiming to solve complex, multi-step problems. The company is using "chain-of-thought prompting," which allows the AI to pause and reflect before generating responses.
